Riverdale is a town that can be pinpointed in Rockland county in the state of New York. The town was founded in the year 1941 by a man by the name of General Augustus Pickens. The founding of the town was bankrolled by the money of Barnabas B. Blossom. The town of Riverdale is small, with an estimated population of 76 individuals (both current and former)
Riverdales History
When the town was first founded, the two sides, the north and the south, lived peacefully, staying out of each other’s business. However, that changed when a criminal by the name of The Black Hood, started to commit crimes mainly against the people of the north, targeting the sinful people. These acts caused tensions between the two sides to begin to rise, usually leading to riots. These tensions only ceased after the untimely death of an individual by the name of Fred Andrews. Paired with his death was the role of the farm in brainwashing the people living in the town.
Later on, the town itself was overshadowed by tapes left on the doorstep by a being known as an Auteur. The tapes possessed footage of the town’s darkest times being reenacted. Later investigation revealed that these were filmed by a group of teenagers, who were influenced by the dark past of the town.

Riverdale's Fall
Seven years after the tapes were found, the town of Riverdale became a ghost town. Most of the residents moved away, leaving behind empty and abandoned buildings. These were either plundered or used as shelters by poor gangs. Soon the entire town was being used by different gangs, prominent buildings now stood as hideouts, and parks were now skid rows. The highschool remained open despite the loss of township of riverdale.

- The school in which parts of the show is filmed is a real school called Point Grey secondary school located in Vancouver, Canada
- The actor who plays Archie was not a natural redhead, his hair was dyed for the role.
- The Actress who plays Cheryl has a fear of water, overcoming it to film a scene in water.
