The three demons of this trio represent different aspects of evil. Asmodeus is the Lord of Vermin. Purson is the Lord of Shadow, and Beelzebub is the Lord of Flies. Together, one of their main goals is to stop Sabrina Spellman from ascending to the throne of Hell. They believe that her half-witch, half-mortal nature will bring chaos, and they want to maintain the traditional hierarchy of Hell.
Preventing Ascension
We are first introduced to the Plague Kings when they emerge from the Greendale Mines at the time of the Winter Solstice. Asmodeus is the first to attack Sabrina at the Academy of Unseen Arts. Purson tries to kill her in the woods. Finally, Beelzebub goes after her at Baxter High. Each time they attempt to destroy her, they are banished to Hell.
They side with Caliban, a demon made of clay from the pit itself, to challenge Sabrina's claim to the throne of Hell, opposing her rule to push for Caliban's rise instead. He is the self-proclaimed Prince of Hell and believes himself to be more suited to rule as the Dark Lord’s successor than Sabrina. When Lilith claims the throne of Hell, the Plague Kings object, saying that Caliban would be a better ruler and calling Lilith a concubine and not a queen.
"We are Kings. And we wish death upon the half-spawn witch and the chaos she engenders! She must be stopped!"

The Fall of the Plague Kings
Sabrina makes a claim to the throne, and they oppose her since she is half-mortal. Instead, they support Caliban’s efforts to restore stability to Hell and conquer the Earth. Unfortunately for them, they later have to kneel before Sabrina when she claims her seat on the throne of Hell.
Of the three plague kings, only Beelzebub survives the series. Purson is killed by Lucifer during a quest for three pieces of the Unholy Regalia. Asmodeus is killed when Zelda invokes the power of Hecate. Beelzebub is badly wounded but escapes.

Descriptions and Abilities
All three of the demons have a particular disdain toward mortals and do not hesitate to harm them. Asmodeus has grayish skin and horns coming out of both his head and face. He's a ruthless demon, known for his complete lack of empathy and his willingness to kill without hesitating. He has control over animals, specifically rats, and uses them to do his bidding.
Beelzebub's skin is ashen, and crown-like horns rise from his head. He is cold-hearted and cruel, entirely unbothered by acts of violence. His powers allow him to control swarms of insects, especially flies.
Purson has rough, dark skin and horns that curve from his head in the shape of a crown. He's quick to kill without a second thought. He has power over animals and uses this specifically to control bats.
