Hobgoblins can be described as elfish like creatures. They have pointed ears and possess the power of super speed. Normally, they live in the fay realm and the forest. It is generally known that if they leave that realm or the forest for too long, they can loose their powers and become just ordinary humans/mortals. At first they become weaker, but this can be fixed by returning to one of those places. Once they lose their powers, it is gone and it will never come back. Not even if they return to the fay realm.
"He's one of us. He belongs with us. He's as fast as lightning and can run on freaking rainbows. He'll live for thousands of years, but not if he stays with you. Every day spent in this doomed realm, cut off from the faykind, he gets a little weaker. Eventually, he won't be a hobgoblin at all. Everything that makes him special will be gone. Let him go, mortal... for his sake."
— Moth
Hobgoblins are known for having colored hair, atleast the known hobgoblins we know about do. The colors or mostly blue or green. Hobgoblins are rare creatures, and haven't been seen around Greendale a lot.
Powers
The powers of a hobgoblin are simple. They have enhanced speed. This means that they can run much faster than normals mortals (humans) can. They can also live for a very long time, for thousands of years. We call this extreme longevity.

A weakness hobgoblins have is the forest link, as described before. If they leave the forest or fay realm for too long, they will lose their powers. No hobgoblin would want for that to happen, unless they had a very valid reason.
Known hobgoblins
Known hobgoblins are Moth and Robin Goodfellow. Robin Goodfellow was a hobgoblin that traveled with Phantasmagoria. He fell in love with a mortal named Theo. Moth is a female hobgoblin. She came to Greendale to bring Robin back to the fay realm, since he started to become weaker. If he wouldn't return, he would have become a mortal. Both of them returned to the fay realm, but Robin got to meet Theo again, later in life.
