First to arrive in Greendale, The Darkness takes the form of miners who died in the mine years prior. It sought to rid the world of light, starting with Greendale.

The Darkness and the Spellmans

Each member of the Spellman family has a run in with The Darkness. Starting with Ambrose who’s encounter occurs just outside of the Academy where he encounters a miner smashing railroad lights. The next to encounter The Darkness is Sabrina, located outside her family’s mortuary. The miner she sees consumes the light from the sign of the mortuary before it vanishes. The next Spellman to encounter the darkness is Zelda. The darkness uses her insecurities against her and claims that mambo Marie is just using her to get power. It also claims that Sabrina hates her. She is saved by Hilda who intervenes using a candle. She calls The Darkness a bully and takes off the mask of the miner, revealing only pure darkness underneath. The Darkness then dematerializes, leaving behind a set of clothes.

The Spellmans arent the only ones to have an encounter as Mary wardell also has one while grading papers at baxter high. She sees a miner smashing lights in the hallway and remembers that light cannot save her so she blows out her candle, which makes the miner move on.

Getting rid of the darkness

A plan is hatched to get rid of The Darkness. Theo and Robin wait by the entrance of the mine with lanterns for the next hoard of miners to come out. When they do the miners are led to the Phantasmagoria carnival. This allows Ambrose and the two Sabrinas to sneak into the mines to find the source of The Darkness. Using road flares, Harvey and Roz lead the miners further into the carnival. These are dropped in a tent and the pair exit out the back. The miners are trapped inside with a barrier spell cast by the fright club.

After being warned of the lethal risks of exposure to The Darkness, Sabrina Morningstar goes into the source first with a lightbulb to use to project her Morningstar light. However, her insecurities are used against her and her light fades. Sabrina Spellman goes in next and finds Morningstar on the ground crying. She tells her that they are both loved, then with this motivation they both channel their Morningstar light. However this is not enough and they are overcome, eyes turning black. Ambrose warns the coven, instructing them to focus their energies on the Sabrinas. Feeling the energy of their coven, the Sabrinas are able to call upon hecate and trap the darkness in the bulb. The Darkness, like the other terrors, is later consumed by the void.

• Most of the Eldtrich Terrors can be traced by to H. P. Lovecraft's works
• The Eldritch Terrors tracable to H. P. Lovecraft where heavily influnced by other writers such as Edgar Allan Poe
• The name 'Eldritch Terrors was inspired by the name Eldritch Horrors in H. P. Lovecrafts works.
• After the death of H. P Lovecraft, other writers took his ideas, such as August Derleth, and expanded the lore H. P. Lovecraft has left behind.
