If you live in Greendale, you probably know a bit about ghosts. Ghosts are spirits of deceased people who haven't moved on to the afterlife. As they haven't moved on, they are trapped in this plane of existence. They wander around. and most ghosts are physically confined to where they died. For example, the deceased children who died around the Academy of Unseen Arts. They could only remain in and near it. Both witches and humans can become ghosts after they died. Other supernatural creatures are most likely able to as well.
History
It is unknown where ghosts original came from. However, the existence of them, makes the likelihood of a 'soul' existing and inhabiting a body, much more likely. After all, what else would create the remnant that remains after a body has died and forms a ghost?
Powers
Ghosts have several powers, namely:
Intangibility - They are unable to feel and the living cannot feel them. This allows them to walk through solid matter. Like walls or even floors if they want to.
Invisibility - Ghosts can turn invisible and visible at will.
Teleportation - Ghosts can disappear and reappear in any location they want to.
Witchcraft - When a witch becomes a ghost, they can still use their witchcraft as a ghost. Humans/mortals do not suddenly gain access to witchcraft after passing.
Possession - Ghosts can possess the living. When they possess someone, they can also choose to take crontol of the person they posses and have them do what they want them to do.
Despite their intangibility, ghosts are affected by spell and thus, these can still be used against them. While fire doesn't affect them, hellfire can effectively end the existence of a ghost by turning them to ash.
