Mary Wardwell is one of the people who teaches at Baxter High. During this time, she was killed and Lilith came back taking on the persona of Mary Wardwell. This was done so that Lilith could trick Sabrina down the path of night. Mary was then revived thanks to Lilith after she herself became the Queen of Hell. Mary returned to Baxter High to teach again, but it wasn't long before she realized that the Spellman family were witches.

Early life

Mary grew up in Greendale with her parents who were considered old to have a daughter. Throughout her upbringing, she loved listening to stories which made her want to become a librarian, but at the same time she also played with the idea of becoming a teacher. Teaching students was something that spoke to her a little more.

The day she graduated, she chose to move to a bigger city, but when her parents passed away, she came back to Greendale. Right then and there, she decided to settle in Greendale in one of the smallest houses there was and a house that was very lonely. At the same time, she took on the role of a teacher.

Love was something that came very late in her life. She had long collected books that were about love, but that wasn't quite enough for her. Instead, she started collecting books about Greendale. Nevertheless, she became engaged at one point in her life to Adam Masters.

Personality

Mary is a very warm-hearted woman, but she’s also shy. She’s very interested and knowledgeable when it comes to Greendale's history. Something that has interested her very much is the Greendale witch trials and the hanging of the Greendale Thirteen. She would like to be the person who tells the story of Greendale. She feels safe in the house she lives in and as long as she lives there, nothing bad will happen to Greendale.

Relations

Adam Masters

Adam was Mary's fiancé and she loved him very much. They dated for three years before Adam decided to propose to her. He wasn't home much as he was working with Physicians Without Frontiers and that was something that made him be away for a very long time. During the time he was away, Mary was killed by Lilith and took on Mary's persona.

On Valentine's Day, Adam returns from his trip and he has no idea what had really happened to Mary. At first, Lilith intended to kill Adam, but he managed to get Lilith to stay away. The Dark Lord instead took responsibility and killed him, thinking that it would free Lilith from Adam who had been an obstacle in her way. Lilith found out that Adam was dead when the Dark Lord placed his head on a plate.
