Welcome to Crystal Clarity! This blog article will bring you a weekly take on a new crystal, including it's magical and mundane principles. We'll also do crystals, gems, and other stones by request! Please send your requests into the mails of Lyssa Delgado, and I'll make sure to include your requests in a full article!

This week's request was from our very own plot lead, Baahir DeGyeong!

Moonstone is a silicate stone of the group feldspar, and it is very unique for it's opalescent, glassy shimmer! And alternative name for the stone is hecatolite, though most know it by the colloquial name. The name moonstone derives from the stone's characteristic visual effect, called adularescence (or schiller), which produces a milky, bluish interior light. Unique words for a unique stone! Polished moonstones often display chatoyancy ("cat's eye" effect), where an ovular luminous streak appears through the stone. Asterism is rare and produces four-legged stars, much like a star sapphire or ruby. It is primarily mined in Europe and Asia.

It has been revered and used for decoration, jewelry, and décor for millennia. The Romans believed moonstone to be made of solid moonlight, and they associated it with lunar deities. It also saw much popularity in the Art Nouveau movement. The moonstone is also the Florida State Gemstone; it was designated as such in 1970 to commemorate the Moon landings, which took off from Kennedy Space Center. However, it does not naturally occur in the state.

The moonstone is often associated with the concept of the Divine Feminine. This power can nourish, give passion, and awaken your internal emotional energies. It can heal and guide you to your inner path.

A gem for intuition, balance, and wishes, moonstone helps channel one's feminine side. It can aid in distinguishing what is merely needed in life versus what is wanted. As you wear moonstones on a regular basis, negative energies will be released and the journey and self-healing can begin. If the gem is clearer then it will host a more colorful luster and have stronger healing powers.

It has been used as a stone of protection for traveling at night, voyaging at sea, childbirth, and pregnancy. And some believe it can bring relief from period problems, prevent water retention, and cleanse the digestive system. Linked with the crown, third eye, and heart chakras, Moonstone calms and relieves stress while releasing love of all kinds.

That's it for this week's Crystal Clarity! Remember to send in your requests for certain stones to me, and I'll cover them here in the article! Until next time, may you have wonderful days!
