Diving into the differences between Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, you'll notice there may be quite a few. Previously we've already dug into Ambrose and Salem who can't seem to be capable of existing in the same show at the same time. One always inevitably stealing the other's limelight. However, there's something else, or should we say, someone else who is missing from the most recent adaption of the story of our favorite witch. Who? Let's find out shall we.
While completely absent from the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, quiz masters play a pretty important role in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. For not only are they teachers of sorts, they are vital for witches to be able to obtain their witch's license. While that's absolutely not all they do, it is the primary part of their occupation. Putting their assigned witches to the test to make sure they are worthy and teaching them where necessary.
If you thought that these teachers only focused on one witch at the time, you're sorely mistaken. Due to them being rather underpayed, they can often be seen taking on several charges at the same time. Leading to them sometimes being spread too thin and not always being capable to help their students out whenever necessary. While they act as a teacher and someone who put their students to the test until they are capable enough to pass the final test, quiz masters also have to attend functions in the Other Realm. The other-dimensional world witches and other supernatural beings call their home. While they are generally visible to mortals, they can on occasion, make themselves invisible to them.
In case the quiz master is indisposed and cannot tend to their student for whatever reason, another witch (usually a family member) with a Witch's License themselves, can step in. In the case of Sabrina, it wasn't unheard of for Hilda to step in for the time being when there were issues with her personal quiz master.
Just like one would expect of teachers, there's several quiz masters that teach the young witches and warlocks all around the world. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that even amongst them, there's order and hierarchy. In Sabrina the Teenage Witch, there's only two quiz masters who make a regular enough appearance, which are Amy, the head quiz master and Albert, Sabrina's personal quiz master.
Amy is a six-hundred year old witch, who still looks surprisingly young for her age. So much so, that upon first meeting her, Sabrina mistakes her for another student. Unknowing this is actually the head quiz master she's facing, the teenage witch complains about her own quiz master's teaching methods (Albert) and this ends up getting him fired. Leaving her without someone to oversee her for the time being until he eventually gets reinstated. This leads to Hilda temporarily stepping in.
As Sabrina's quiz master, Albert is a rather strict and often times harsh man. During the time they spend together until she gets him fired on accident, he did however, do his very best to teach her how to use her magic and to make her a better witch. Despite how hard he is on Sabrina, the teen's still fond of him regardless and thankful for what he has taught her throughout their year together. During this year, we learn surprisingly little about Albert. Besides his name and his quiz master number (72469), we only know he lives in the Other Realm and has a roommate who is a giant talking mouse.
A quiz master teaches their witch until they manage to pass their Witch's Test and so did Albert. Although Sabrina is forced to make a very difficult decision for her own during this test. Her magic or her mother.
