Michelle Gomez has been recognized for several roles that she has portrayed during her time being active in the film industry. She has appeared in several TV shows from The Book Group to Doctor Who as Missy from 2014-2017. Due to her performance on Doctor Who she was nominated for the TV Award Best Supporting Actress.
Michelle Gomez was born in Glasgow to her parents on November 23, 1966. When she was 7 years of age, she went and saw a production of Kiss Me, Kate. And that was when her love of acting was realized. Her parents supported what she wanted to do. From 1978 to 1983 Michelle went to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After she left, it did take the young Michelle a while to land her first major role. The first role that Michelle landed was for the 1998 film titled The Acid House. From there she starred in several different shows and even guest-starred in a few as well. In 2008 Michelle joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and performed as Kate, who appears in The Taming of the Shrew. After that, she appeared in several TV shows and even appeared on a YouTube channel titled Wildseed Studios. In 2020 Michelle Gomez landed a role on HBO Max’s dark comedy series titled The Flight Attendant. The role she landed was named Miranda Craft. .
In seasons 8 - 10 of Doctor Who Michelle portrayed a character by the name of Missy. Her character was the incarnation of Doctor Who’s nemesis. In 2017 Michelle stated she would no longer return to Doctor Who to reprise her role of Missy. In 2018 she was cast as the role of LIlilth, also known to us as Madam Satan. The portrayal of Lilith was beautifully done by Michelle Gomez. In all honesty, they cast the perfect person. She had you feel for the character at times, and she also had you loathe the character at times. There is just something about how she did the role, that we feel no one else could perfectly portray.
When we first come across Lilith, her loyalty lies with The Dark Lord. She is sent there, to push Sabrina into sighing her name in the Book of the Beasts. And she does this, by being Sabrina’s favorite teacher. She talks to Sabrina about witches and helps her (in her way) along the way, to push her into her full potential. But after some time, Lilith soon realizes that she is just a pawn. And has one of the biggest character arcs of the show. And again, this is amazingly portrayed by Michelle. It must of been pretty difficult to go from playing a character who is considered the mother of demons, who is cold and calculating to someone who… betrays the person she had served for several thousands of years.
