Gavin Leatherwood: From Theatre to Television
Newer to the scene in acting vs all of his co-stars, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina seemed to help push Gavin Leatherwood’s career even more. Not only does he have an acting career, but Gavin also has a couple of songs that have been released. His portrayal of Nicholas Scratch ended up being his first major role. Join me as we dive more into his life before, during, and after.
Gavin Leatherwood: Early Life
On June 7, 1994, Gavin Leatherwood was born in Maui, Hawaii. Though, his youth was spent in California. He grew up in Orange County, just near Yorba Linda. Gavin grew up watching Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Star Wars and loved all of them. He could be seen around his town with a skateboard going around with his friends and enjoying their time. Gavin even once stated in an interview that he tried moving things with his mind! Haven’t we all though? Once he turned 18 years of age, Gavin moved to Oregon. .
Early career
Gavin started his career in theater, when he was 6 he first appeared in 'All My Son’s' in LA. Gavin began acting on screen in 2017 and appeared in several shows, though most of them just being very minor roles or appearances. Gavin’s first major role was landing Nicholas Scratch. Here is a little fun fact, Nicholas Scratch wasn’t originally a part of the Archie verse comics. One could say, in all honesty, that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina helped kick-start his career.

Some could argue and say, they did not like Nicholas Scratch within the series. When we first saw him on screen, though we didn’t know it at the time… he was tasked with making sure Sabrina stayed on the path of darkness. He became a close friend of hers, quickly. And not long after, Nicholas became Sabrina’s lover. Even though we have not seen much from Gavin before… I feel like they cast the role perfectly. And honestly could not picture anyone else better for the role!
Gavin Leatherwood after filming ended has gone on to star in an HBO show, for a season. He has even released a couple of songs as well. He can play guitar, ukulele and even piano. In an interview after part four, Gavin stated he was coming back to LA to record some more music. He wasn’t sure if he was going to be putting out an album yet. But maybe we will get to see some awesome things from him in the future. We really didn’t hear much from him since the ending of the filming of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina… but he is set to be a character in the comedy horror film ‘It’s what's inside’ sometime later this year. We for sure cannot wait to see what more he has in store for us!

- He is of Irish, English, Welsh, Spanish, Native American, and even some Greek descent.
- Even though his character ends up with Sabrina, Gavin was very much a Team Harvey person from the start.
