Chance Perdomo: A Star Gone Too Soon

While we may all know him best as Ambrose Spellman in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this was by far not the only series Chance Perdomo starred in. Both before and after, he carried on and if it wasn't for the unfortunate accident in March 2024, he would've continued his rise to fame. Let's see what this rising star was all about, shall we?

From Law to Acting

Chance might've been born in the United States, but it wasn't long before his mother moved the both of them to Southampton, England. This is where he would end up growing up primarily, attending Redbridge Community School where he quickly became head boy and eventually, fell in love with theater.

Following this, he attended Peter Symonds College where he was equally invested in his education. To the point he became the president of the sixth form's student union. Afterwards, his plans were to study law, but for some reason, he decided against this and pursued acting instead. This prompted him to move to London and join the National Youth Theatre as well as receive schooling at the Identity School of Acting.

A Rising Star

His official television debut was made as Henry Goodall in Hetty Feather in 2017. Quickly followed by his very first lead role in the year after, when he starred in the film, Killed By My Debt. Despite this still being incredibly early on in his career, it was for this role he received a nomination for Best Actor for the British Academy Television Awards.

In that same year, Chance Perdomo was also announced to become a regular in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as the one and only Ambrose we've come to love so much. Originally, he auditioned for Jughead Jones on CAOS' twin show, Riverdale, but didn't get the role. All for the better, as Ambrose ended up being specifically written with Chance in mind. Queue an incredible character being born!

Height of His Career

Just a year later, in 2019, Perdomo got even more recognition. This time this came in the form of the title of a Screen International Star of Tomorrow as well as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit. In the years that followed, he'd continue to star as Ambrose while also looking for other acting opportunities.

These came in the form of a film by the name of After We Fell, in 2021, After Ever Happy in 2022 and After Everything in 2023. All part of the 'After' film series in which he'd star as Landon Gibson. He also voiced Snork in the third season of Moominvalley.

Another great role Chance Perdomo got cast for, was that of Andre Anderson in Gen V. This show as a spin-off for The Boys, would continue to run, but only the first season, which aired in 2023, features the late star and his character.

Death of a Star

On the 30th of March, fans of the actor and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina fandom as a whole, were shocked to hear of Chance's passing the night before. It is said he died in a motorcycle crash while on his way to Toronto where filming for the second season of Gen V would start.

There were no others involved in the crash and many spoke up about the actor's charm, enthusiasm and talent in the days and weeks after his passing. A month before all of this happened, Perdomo stated in an interview how much he was looking forward to a long career in especially action-adventures movies and shows, as well as hoping to do more of his own stunts.

Chance Perdomo was only 27 years old when he passed, yet managed to touch many hearts. Ours included.
