Moon Valley: Where Magic Lives

Perhaps not the best known place for those unfamiliar to the magical folks that live amongst them within Greendale. Moon Valley however, is a location very well known amongst the witch community and for a rather good reason too.

What is Moon Valley?

Hidden deep within the Greendale Woods lays a specifically enchanting piece of that same forest. Some say it's its own separate forest, but it's technically a part of the same forest, so we're going to absolutely roll with this. Besides, it's just the human race that likes to label locations. Every tree in a forest is a part of that same forest and as there's no clear-cut off between the two, it's safe to say, Moon Valley is a part of the Greendale Woods.

This place is well known amongst witches, as it's a place where many familiars live. Some of them even wander this deep into the woods for their own furry (or not so furry) friend if they do not wish to pick one from the registrar. Not a weird thing to do, as it is definitely more personal and will create a better bond in the long run.

A Home to Many

Besides a home to a wide variety of familiars, some witches also choose to live here. Especially those that aren't a fan of covens or the hustle and bustle of a town such as Greendale prefer Moon Valley. Doing their own thing amongst the trees without any judgement.

Dezmelda is one of these witches. Someone who fled into the woods after a traumatic experience before her initiation into the Church of Night and found her home in this part of the woods. Judith Blackwood too, spent some time living in Moon Valley under the guidance of Dezmelda in order to keep her safe from her own father.

Kinkle Hunting Ground

Not everyone is happy with this stretch of forest in the middle of the Greendale Woods however. Witch hunters tend to use it as their hunting grounds. Often times taking young hunters there to practice their skills by taking out familiars when given the chance.

This is also where Harvey presumably kills the familiar that Sabrina, Madame Satan and the Weird Sisters stumble upon. In order to stop the Kinkles from taking it, they hide the body and the Weird Sisters are hell-bent on killing Harvey. A life for a life, after all.

Did They Know?

Despite it being rather well known to witches Moon Valley is the home to magical creatures like their familiars, it is uncertain if the Kinkle family is actually aware of this fact. Especially with how Harvey himself seems entirely unaware of the existence of witches for a good part of the show.

Therefore it's very well possible the hunting group thought of the familiar as nothing more but a regular deer. Would Sabrina and co. left it there in its half deer half goblin shape, it certainly would've caught a stir.
