Known to us as none other than the much disliked and flawed Faustus Blackwood, this is by far not the only role Richard Coyle has shined in. Which should come as no surprise with almost three decades of experience in the entertainment industry! But who is Coyle exactly and where did he come from? Let's take a much closer look at him, shall we?
Born in Sheffield, England on February 27 1972, it was safe to say he was only two days off from being a leap year baby. He was the fourth of five sons, something I bet his father, who was a builder, was more than happy about. Not one, not tow, but five kids who could potentially follow in his footsteps!
Richard however, had different plans. At first, he worked as an entertainer on a ferry. Playing minor roles in theatre productions, during which he was told he had talent and should definitely look into continuing on this path. Though perhaps, not on a ferry and seek out something bigger and better.
Attending the University of York to study Languages and Philosophy starting 1995, Richard Coyle managed to graduate a mere three years later. At the same time as his two close friends whom you've probably heard of as well, Dean Kelly and Oded Fehr.
Shortly after graduating, he went on to star in television shows such as 'Lorna Doone' and 'Sword of Honour'. On top of that, he also starred in the film 'Topsy-Turvy'. This was followed in 1999 by 'Wives and Daughters' and in 2000 he managed to break through into the film industry by landing his role as Jeff Murdock in 'Coupling'.
Despite absolutely adoring his role in his break through series Richard Coyle didn't want to be associated with Jeff Murdock for the rest of his career. After all, it could seriously affect the longevity of his time in the entertainment industry. We can definitely say for certain, at this point in time, he's managed to do just that!
After this, he went on to star in 'Strange', as well as 'Human Traffic', 'Franklyn', 'A Good Year', 'Cracker: Nine Eleven' as well as 'The Whistleblowers' and 'Othello'. But, those would not exactly be roles that were as grand and impressive as his role in Coupling.
At the same time, Richard Coyle managed to star alongside Johnny Depp in 'The Libertine' and alongside Jake Gyllenhaal as his brother in 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time'.
More recently, he's picked up some perhaps better known titles such as 'Crossbones' in which he portrayed Tom Lowe who has to take out Blackbeard and of course, Faustus Blackwood in the Netflix hit show 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina', the to us, very well known misogynistic leader of the Church of Night and Judas Society. As well as the dean of the Academy of Unseen Arts.
His most recent endeavors include yet another big name as he has starred in the latest installment of 'Fantastic Beasts' as none other than Albus Dumbledore's brother, Aberforth Dumbledore. In the future, we're going to be able to see him in the action packed movie 'Heads of State'. His acting career has been going strong and it doesn't appear to be coming to a halt anytime soon!
