The Academy of Unseen Arts

The Academy of Unseen Arts is one of the best schools in the world for young witches and warlocks to learn and hone their witchcraft. It has a huge variety of classes and deep within its walls, a vast amount of secrets. During its time the school used to focus on the Church of Night and the Dark Lord but nowadays it has changed hands and now honors the Goddess Hecate and has a much more delicate touch.

Being a Student at the Academy of Unseen Arts

Becoming a student is one of the most thrilling times in a young witch or warlock's life as you start to hone and develop your witchcraft. The Academy itself is located in Greendale at Gehenna Station and is built according to the principles of sacred geometry, in other words the each room is shaped like a pentagon and interlocks with the next room.

At the center or the heart of the school there used to be a statue of the Dark Lord but it was destroyed by witch hunters. When Father Blackwood took over he had a statue made to look like him and it met destruction at the hands of his own daughter who beheaded the statue. Eventually the Academy was dedicated to the Goddess Hecate and a new statue was built at its center to honor the new way of the school beliefs.

When students are attending the academy they are able to stay in the dormitories which are sorted according to gender. Unfortunately if you are thinking of taking your familiar to school with you, this is forbidden and you are expected to hold your own in the school and show off your own powers without the influence of your familiar.

The academy also sports a huge library known as the Sanctum which is where advanced students can study the ancient books.

If you are tempted to break any rules then it is advisable that you do not as the school also has a prison cell where you will be sent for breaking rules and it is absolutely not somewhere you want to be sent to.

Classes at the Academy of Unseen Arts

The Academy of Unseen Arts is where witches and warlocks go to learn more about their powers and develop skills and there is absolutely no shortage of classes when it comes to this as well as extra curricular classes. Classes are known as Lectures at the Academy.

There is absolutely no shortage of lessons to attend at this school.

 

Secrets of the Academy

There are many secrets of the Academy and very few are known and some are better not to be known. But some of the better known secrets are that the school is actually home to a lot of ghosts, as the school took in children who had no family. However most of these ghosts at the school are children who died whilst being in the school and were put through something called a ‘Harrowing’.

The Harrowing was a cruel procedure that new students were put through by older students and many of them did not survive.

The first stage of the Harrowing the young witches and warlocks were thrown into the prison cell in the school which happens to be the same cell that the Greendle Thirteen were thrown into whilst they awaited their execution. It is said that the ghosts of the Greendale Thirteen show themselves to whoever is in the cell during the night and it can lead a witch or warlock to madness.

The next stage the young witches and warlocks are led down the same path that the Greendale Thriteen walked to the hanging tree. Here they are left to elements with no shoes and exposed to look at the noose and keep their eyes fixed on the path. They are not allowed to turn around until dawn.

The harrowing gets a little gray at this point but it is believed that the students suffered a slight hanging and many of the children lost their lives during this awful tradition. Eventually it was put a stop to by Sabrina and Zelda Spellman with help from the ghosts of the children

A More Feminine and Delicate Touch?

The school was designed for Satanic witches but once Zelda Spellman took over, the school was dedicated to the Goddess Hecate. Lucifer said that the school takes a more feminine and delicate approach now because of this.

Given all that happened in the school over the years it was designed for Satanic Witches, it is probably not a bad thing that the school has a different approach to how they teach their students. After all sixteen years of age is an incredibly young age in not only human years but especially in witch years.

Things like the harrowing, male supremacy and laughing at causing others pain are not things that will be missed from the Academy.
