The Weird: Eldritch Terrors

There are eight different Eldritch Terrors, all of which predate time and space itself. They are immortal, inhuman and world destroying entities. The third of these ancient beings is known as The Weird. Much different to its counterparts, their avatar is an ancient octopus that possesses human bodies to survive within the mortal world.

The Weird: Possession of mortals

When the weird possesses a host they must be strong enough to sustain them. Meaning, if they are not they will die. When the host is possessed by the weird, their body basically starts to hybridize and become a husk. Its goal was to possess as many hosts as possible to feed to void. The Weird actually ended up taking over Sabrina Spellman, who was a very strong host. Pesta and Ambrose Spellman however, ended up making her body uninhabitable to the Weird.

Entering Greendale

When the weird enters Greendale, they track down Faustus Blackwood and tell him they will help him once they find a new stronger host. He himself offers up his body, but they tell him he is too weak. Instead, they want to take over Sabrina Spellman’s body. Due to her being a strong host because she had already bested both The Darkness and The Weird.

Mary Wardwell tells them they will need a Trojan horse to get to Sabrina. And so, they offer their current body to the Spellman Mortuary. Once there the weird leaves it's current host and takes over Sabrina Spellman's body. When the weird first encounters Sabrina it is within her dream. The weird appears to her as Lucas, who tells her his swim metal must be gold. That the Eldridge Terrors demand it, then he goes on to introduce himself as The Weird. And also tells her she is the first he has taken over and with her they will consume all life. Lucas in her dreams tell her he's not just a boy, the two share a kiss and she wakes in her bathtub to find herself covered in the weird ones tentacles.

Taking over Hosts

During its time within Sabrina, when she was at school, Sabrina had to dissect a squid. During this, she is paired with Lucas. But anytime she tries to get near the squid with the scalpel she heard an unbearable metallic ringing. And due to this because she was in pain, she was excused from class. Lucas was as well because he offered to take her home. Once she was gone she drank a whole glass of water and insisted she was fine. When the two of them were on her couch they began to kiss, Lucas broke and told her her tongue felt weird. She opened her mouth to show him, and he ran off scared of what he saw.

When she moved to a mirror to get a look she saw her tongue had suction cups and ink pads on her palm.

She shared her discovery with Ambrose who then told her the body down in the morgue had the same symptoms. And he believed she was possessed by the weird. He explained that the body down in the morgue was a human-hybrid of a squid. Ambrose tried to cut the weird out of Sabrina but due to it moving more into her he realized the weird needs water inorder for her to survive. And so he calls the water witch Sycorax. She begins to drain the water from Sabrina's body, making her uninhabitable to the weird. Sabrina is later seen throwing up the weirds lifeless body into a bucket.

The Weird: Still Around

Sabrina thought she had gotten rid of the weird. But, they did not. The word, in fact, took over her consciousness during class. Everyone was frozen, except for Sabrina and Lucas. Who spoke saying they were the weird, they are older than time, they were the first in the ocean, and all life comes from them. All life will return to them. And everyone will be assimilated. While Sabrina is under its control the weird admits in the Dark wet that they are all connected by one mind. They command everyone in the classroom to end their lives for the void, but Ambrose comes in and renders the weird unconscious.

Sabrina comes into contact with the weird within her own consciousness. During this, the Weird reveals how old they are and that the Weird and Sabrina are now one of mind. That they chose her as a host because she is not only the strongest but the weakest. That she is the most vulnerable and thus making her the perfect host of them.

Ambrose reveals to Sabrina when she wakes that the weird attached is consciousness to her cerebellum. The plan was to make her brain uninhabitable for the weird. So he called over Pesta, to infect Sabrina's brain with every disease known to man. Once Pesta did that the weird then left Sabrina's brain to find a more suitable host. Which happened to be an octopus that Ambrose had in a tank nearby. And once the weird was within the octopus. He froze the tank. Then the weird, the darkness and the uninvited were thrown into the void by the order of Hecate.

Do you think the weird would use you as a host?
