Considered the daughters of the Church of Night, three who function as one, the Weird Sisters are a force to be reckoned with, despite their young age. They didn't just attend the Academy of Unseen Arts, they grew up at the place, like several other orphans did. But what exactly made them tick and how did they change and evolve throughout the show? Today we'll be taking a look at just that!
Originally consisting of Prudence Blackwood, Agatha Night and Dorcas Night, the Weird Sisters were a group of three witches within the Church of Night who were raised at the Academy of Unseen Arts. All of them had one thing in common and that was the fact that they were orphaned at a young age. Or so they thought anyways, as it later turns out, one of them isn't like the rest of them. But more about that later!
They were incredibly ambitious witches too, Prudence in particular who made sure the other two didn't fall behind when it came to their lessons in witchcraft. Due to them always being seen together and them referring to themselves as the Weird Sisters, others eventually started to do so to. To say they turned into an absolute scourge amongst those at the Academy, would be an understatement. But they were so in particular to Sabrina Spellman.
While the three grew up together and were raised by Faustus Blackwood, they all had their very distinct personalities. Prudence might've been the ambitious leader of the Weird Sisters, but didn't come even close to how truly corrupted Agatha was. Meanwhile Dorcas was the least confident out of the three of them and someone who much rather lived in her dreams than in reality. Causing her to daydream and not pay attention often.
Of course, the fact that they were assumed orphans was what tied them together. However, this is yet another point at which one of them differs from the others. After all, it is eventually revealed that while Faustus Blackwood raised Prudence, Agatha and Dorcas, only the latter two weren't biologically his. Despite not being actually related, the three of them were in tune with one another enough to walk, talk and act in unison.
In terms of appearance, the three are also quite different from one another. Where Agatha has black hair and brown eyes, Dorcas has red hair, blue eyes and pale skin. Prudence meanwhile has darker skin, bleached white hair and dark brown eyes. All three have a more ghoulish appearance with a green, green-grey or even grey skin, green or red glowing eyes and no nose.
Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever and the same can be said about the original Weird Sisters. While a force to be reckoned with, they don't all live to tell the tale of the horrors they faced throughout their lives. Agatha, for one, ends up killing Dorcas in a moment of insanity caused by the god Pan. Agatha herself is killed by Sabrina Spellman, but resurrected through the use of the family's Cain pit.
After this, Prudence reforms the Weird Sisters, filling in the two empty spaces with other witches. Namely the voodoo priestess Mambo Marie and Rosalind Walker, who on top being a witch, also has the cunning which allows her to see visions and ghosts in exchange for her ability to see.
No longer the scourges of the Academy of Unseen Arts, the Weird Sisters in their reformed format, become the Sentinels of the Order of Hecate. Monitoring the planetarium to keep an eye on potential disruptions in the realms during the time of the Eldritch Terrors. Working closely with the people Prudence once hated for the survival of not just witch, but human kind as well.
The new form of the Weird Sisters doesn't last long either however. Especially as it turns out that Mambo Marie isn't exactly who she claimed to be and has to return to the Realm of the Dead. Thus leaving the trio a duo. Fear not however, with Agatha resurrected and back to her more-or-less sane self, she ends up re-joining and thus completing the Weird Sisters.
