The Perverse: Eldritch Terrors

There are eight different Eldritch Terrors, all of which predate time and space itself. They are immortal, inhuman and world destroying entities. The fourth of these ancient beings is known as The Perverse. Much different to its counterparts, their avatar is an imp statue that grants a person wishes, which alters and thereby perversing reality itself. The wishes, though, are known to have some kind of catch due to the Imp being known for its ‘Impish ways’.

The Perverse: Changing of Reality

When a wish is made, that alters reality, anyone who is affected by the wish, does not know they are basically in an alternate reality. They believe it to be real, and that it is the true one that they have always lived. Although this is known to be true, there is also a catch. The powers of the Eight Eldritch Terrors can be comparable to the flu. Once you have been exposed, it basically makes you immune to them. This is shown in the show, when Rosalind touched The Uninvited and Sabrina was a host to The Weird

Enemy Number One

It is seen, that Father Blackwood, has stolen the imp from a Trinketman, thus making his own wish. What he wishes for is a reality where he is a dictator. In this reality that he wished for, witches are hunted and executed. He also made her public enemy number one in this reality. However, it only applied to Greendale itself. Anywhere else, this was not the case. Sabrina got the imp herself and wished reality back to how it was, but this was after she got the Stone of Omphalos and returned her friend's memories.

The Dictatorship

The Imp is originally not for sale by the man who came into Greendale with various artifacts. Which, of course, promoted Father Blackwood to seal it. In the show, we see Prudence going to attack Father Blackwood, just as he is making his wish. Once reality is changed due to the wish, Prudence is an obedient follower to Father Blackwood and the Lieutenant of his army. Father Blackwood rules over Greendale until the witches regain their memories thanks to Sabrina and Ambrose. Once they have done that, they destroy The Imp, thinking that in doing so, it would restore reality. That was until Father Blackwood revealed that they destroyed a replica. Roz and Mambo Marie look to Prudence to find a way to end the reality they are currently in. Prudence reveals one must wish on The Imp not destroy it to get reality back to the way it was. That was when Sabrina realized The Imp was Father Blackwoods dog, she placed her hand on his head and wished for reality to go back to how it was.

The Perverse: Stopping The Void?

Sabrina of course, plans on stopping The Void as well. She wonders if they would manage to be able to stop The Void with the other Eldritch Terrors that they have stopped thus far. As she is just about to make a wish, on The Imp, there is a knock in her door. The Trinketman informs her it would be unwise to use The Imp to wish away The Void. Instead, he offers her Pandora’s Box, and takes The Imp of the Perverse back.

Would you ever make a wish using the Imp?
