It's been a while since I last wrote in you, journal. My apologies. I think I've gotten too used to being back in Greendale and instead of being on the road, my time has primarily been spent editing the footage we gathered throughout the past couple of months.
Soon however, we should be running out and that means, we (Cecil and I) have started looking at potential places to visit. Asia is definitely on the list of possible continents to head to, as we haven't really been there yet. But neither have we been to Europe just yet. As a matter of fact, thus far, we've mostly stuck to North and South America. Which is starting to get just a little boring.
On the other hand, I still do really want to head back to the house I told you about last time. Or maybe the part of the woods where my encounter with the paranormal started. Which, at the same time, has nothing to do with Project Unsolved and I doubt anything much will still be found out there.
Also not sure how I feel about going there and I'm sure it's a sentiment Ellie shares. It kind of feels like it was the beginning of the end-- but at the same time, a new beginning all together. It was one of the last times I've seen Haneul, after all.
You might be wondering, what encounter I'm exactly taking about, so let me fill you in. This was around Halloween, about fifteen years ago, when my twin brother (Haneul) and I, only just arrived in Greendale. Of course we noticed there was something off about this town and had started looking into it, but nothing could've prepared us for what awaited us that night we decided to investigate the Eversgreen Forest. A place that had a lot of dark rumors surrounding it.
We found something, we didn't expect in the slightest.
At first, it seemed to just be an unassuming carved out pumpkin. Candle lit inside. As if someone left it there and honestly, that wouldn't have been the weirdest thing we encountered since that Halloween party.
However, shit quickly hit the fan when we decided to give it a closer inspection. Or rather, the second Ellie and Haneul decided to do so. It instantly prompted some kind of giant pumpkin monster made out of vines to sprout from the ground. Needless to say, all of us ended up hurt that night as it took us way too long to figure out how to deal with such a creature. We'd never been faced with anything paranormal or supernatural to begin with!
So if you ever wondered why I am not too fond of pumpkins in general, now you know. Even though I was arguably the one who got out all of this the least injured. Just severe burns down one of my legs, while my brother lost his foot entirely. Eventually, we ended up losing him. But that's a story for another time. Maybe.
Honestly, there's not much to it. After having to learn how to live without that specific part of his limb, something changed about Haneul. He withdrew himself from Ellie and I. Until he, one day, just up and left. We've never heard of him again.
It's one of those reasons why I'm glad to have Cecil. While he's not my brother by blood, he might just as well be. Not that I'll ever tell him that much. It'll just end up going to his head! Anyways, I think that's about enough for now. Maybe next time I'll actually write about something more recent, instead of going backwards in time.
I've got plenty of stories to tell.
